Ongoing challenges with developmental hip dysplasia in Ecuador have created the need for highly specialized hip reconstructive surgeries that Dr. Kaper and his team perform with what is known as femoral shortening osteotomies- surgeries that can dramatically change the patient's ability to walk and live.
Dad had his hip replacement done. Dr. Kaper made him feel as though everything was going to work out perfectly. It had been a pretty bad 6 months in which the broken hip had failed to repair using pins. Finding Dr. Kaper to fix this disaster probably saved my Dad's health and happiness. He not only replaced the hip, he removed the other doctor's pins, and lengthened Dad's leg that had shrunk from his inability to use it. He treated Dad with dignity and respect and gave him the confidence to know he would walk again. The surgery was fast and precise. The recovery at Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak hospital was easy and comfortable. Dr. Kaper turned things around for our family.

I had arthroscopic surgery done by a bad doctor last July. In desperation I contacted Dr Kaper. He came highly recommended. I had been in such pain for so many months. He did arthroscopic surgery on my knee a couple of weeks ago and I am in great shape. I'm still recovering but the pain is minimal. I am so grateful for his kindness and expertise. I would highly recommend this doctor. He's the best!
Dr. Kaper is a very gifted surgeon. I had a complete anterior right hip replacement done in June 2017. Within three weeks, I was feeling great and able to do all the things that I was doing prior to surgery, without pain. I love the thoroughness of Dr. Kaper. He has a very efficient, caring professional staff that guide you with timelines and procedures. When meeting with Dr. Kaper, I was most impressed with how well he listened to my concerns and then explained patiently in layman lang.

As a teenager, surgery on my left knee, because of a bone disease, left it as the “bad” knee and the “good” right knee carried the load for the next 60 years. Until it didn’t. And my good, old, reliable right knee became an arthritic, painful knee that gave up on carrying the load.
Dr. Kaper had operated on my right shoulder 13 years before, and I’d quickly regained full use of it. With that kind of experience as a recommendation, I didn’t hesitate to seek him out. Dr. Kaper quickly assessed the problem and laid out a course of action (pre-surgical physical therapy; lots of information about what I could expect; surgery that was amazing quick and skillful; lots of ice; more physical therapy at home; followed by additional out-patient physical therapy), and got me back on my feet within less time than I could have imagined.
I am very grateful to have had Dr. Kaper as my surgeon and coach, who made it possible for me to resume a normal life and enjoy the activities in my community. His concern for the things that mattered kept me on track and I do not hesitate to recommend him to those with similar problems.
